According to Graham Bastin, MD, and Northwest site lead at Barclays, “Digital and cyber security skills are becoming ever more crucial to the function of businesses, government as well as society at large." DiSH will help find and support talented entrepreneurs in the industry, all whilst supporting the growth of the digital sector in Great Manchester and beyond.
Some of the DiSH objectives include:
- Support 500 start-ups and the creation of 1,000 jobs within the digital security sector over a 13 year period via accelerator programmes, with a focus on targeting Greater Manchester residents from deprived local communities.
- Collaborate with public, private, and volunteer sector Digital Security to up/re-skill the Greater Manchester community.
- Create a diverse and inclusive Digital Security environment that reflects the Greater Manchester community it serves.
Councillor Bev Craig, Leader of Manchester City Council, said: "Manchester is Europe's fastest-growing tech city and is establishing itself as a centre of excellence for digital and cybersecurity. DiSH should help build on this and create a wide range of new opportunities in the sector for Manchester and Greater Manchester people."
Businesses may now enrol for the specialised Digital Security Accelerator programme, created and delivered by Plexal, as the first in a series of growth programmes offered by DiSH. Click here to find out more.
