Hi Folks,

I have a quick question/research question.

When you take on new clients, do you insist on a deposit before commencing work for them?

How much is a reasonable amount?

In the current climate it makes sense, any client that isn't willing to do so is probably not worth working for.

What's the general opinion.

Cheers.

Mike 🙂

Hi everyone,

has anyone put fictitious work in their portfolios? unfortunately due to lack of clients I need to.

Is it a case of - think of a product, think of a name, design a brochure? or is it more scientific than that? would it be a good idea to try to get a design brief from a design agency for example?

Any ideas would be much appreciated...

Cheers

Hi,

that's great, very useful, I hadn't really looked into the hosting side of things, but you've given me some great advice, thank you.

Hi Mickey,

Yeah thank's for your reply, the ongoing hosting, I use 123 reg for example, that's pretty cheap. Do you have any advice on hosting?

I like the template idea, again a no brainer for the client and as you say, would be very quick and cost effective.

Hi all...

Just wanted to run this past the forum, I'm trying to attract more web design work from local small businesses, as I don't want to over burden them, I'm offering a fixed 4 page static site, free 1 years hosting and domain name for £250. This is a basic package price to get them in, if they need something more advanced I can also do that at separate price.

I'm thinking this might be a no brainer for these busy people where money is also tight.

Is it too cheap or undervaluing web design?

any thoughts...?

Hi,

thank you all for your response, especially Opus, that was very thorough and very helpful. thank's.

I think I'll amend my terms and it will avoid this situation in the future.

Cheers.

Hi everyone...

can you help, I'm just doing a quote for a book cover design, my client has asked, "if the design is rejected and will have to be re-done; will it be included within the original quote?"

I feel I can do amends to any designs I do come under the original quote, but to re-design it completely seems too much. I don't want to be re-doing and re-doing until they're happy.

What's a reasonable response?

Thank you.

Hi,

I'm new to web design, I'm having a slight problem with launching my site, I've put the information in the remote info section and tested the connection with the server which is fine, but when I come to view my site in the design area it said cannot connect to host your login or password is incorrect.

Any ideas where I'm going wrong...?

Cheers

Hi,

I'm new here so hello everyone...

could anyone please give a pantone spot colour or cmyk spec for a proper red, I've trying to get a proper red/blood red and it either comes out too orange or to dark...any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers
