forgot to say

design process

Consultation with client

If there happy to go ahead get a deposit up front ( i always get 20% before designing so much as a button)

Design draft in jpg format and if they like it get more cash

design the css html content as template

let them play with it for a day or so

if their happy then its time to go full on ( i use my own web space for this section so that i still have some control over the actaul code and content - ie dynamic stuff)

the rest is up to you m8...

again be careful

Bluewater, post: 9563 a écrit : Hi
I just about to start my first freelance project, a client who needs someone to design his website front end, I applied, and he emailed me for asking what a day rate I am going to charge and a meeting of discusion will be needed. I am not in the smae city where he is, I am about 200 miles away. I wonder if we have agreed rate, how should we start the project, do I do design first or I need him to put deposit down first, what are normal stages when doing a project for an individual? Help please!

Thank you!
Dont design a thing until you have agreed a price. Also hourly rate could be a bit tricky; how can you prove to the guy you have spent lets say 15 hours non stop desgning stuff. ??

Also If you are front end designer and he is backend designer (ie you are doing the css and Xhtml or html ) are you going to present it to him as a live page? if so how can you know he wont just lift the code and images and ditch you?

be careful ;)

Hourly rate for good website designer around £25 per hour.
