Hi.
New here:embarassed
Read the other threads re: tax, but couldn't see a direct answer to this:
I'm in full-time employment, but have been offered the opportunity of regular freelance work. I want to comply with all the necessary UK tax laws, but my question is: if I register with the Inland Revenue for this work, will my employer need to know / find out ?? This freelance work wouldn't conflict with my day-job, but I know that my employer would NOT be happy.
Any advice and help will be greatly appreciated.

I was both employed and self employed. You need to register with HMRC and tell them you are both employed and self employed. Your employer will not find out. The good thing is the IR can collect your tax re self employment through your tax code. Hope this helps. -

Although there is no reason for the two to interlap, my tax office contacted my employer at the time by mistake.....was very embarassing.
