Hi there freelanceuk dot com.
This is my first post in the forum, I have read through a lot of posts and there`s a lot of good advice on here.
Well...
I am new to freelance and photography and was wondering what camera to purchase in order to gain some photographic experience and also create a portfolio, on a seemingly limited budget.
The camera i have been thinking of purchasing is a Fuji S6500 from play dot com.
1)What do experienced photographers think of this camera as an entry level camera?
2)Is it best for me to save up some currency and buy a higher res. camera?
Any advice would be appreciated.

also megapixels aren't everything, 6MP+ is a good start
fuji lenses are fixed & very slow -

I have done a bit more research and it seems we have a winner. Great reccomendations Adam.F.
Nikon D40 it is, a great camera for a great price. And I say that without trying to sound like a nikon sales person. -

You can get an 8 MP camera but its not an SLR for about £100, so when i started i thought why buy an SLR that has only 6?
Granted pixels arnt the end all but i still wanted a good reolution if i was going to spend on an slr. so i got a nikon d80. best camera i have ever had -

6MP is a high resolution
you can print a decent size & its more than a good resolution for the web
also all you can get for non DSLR's is add on lenses & alot of compact digi cameras don't even come with hot shoes these days which then limits your flash options
DSLR's just open up so many options
but yes you are right D80 is a good choice if you've got a little extra cash
