Hi There,
I'm thinking of designing and developing websites for potential clients.
I actually have a full time job, however, wanted to branch out, and do some development in my spare time.
I imagine there will be lots of you out there that have been in my position, so I had a couple of Q's i'd like to ask:
1 - Do i have to register with HMRC?
2 - How do I go about declaring TAX and NI contributions?
3 - As far as invoice/billing goes: Is it best to bill weekly/monthly, and keep a copy for tax purposes?
Any advice will be much appreciated.

2 - Speak to your local tax office
3 - Depending on the project but generally monthly. All invoices should be kept electronically, i think, for up to 6 years. -

How do I freelance on the side? :: Freelance UK
On your third question, it really depends on the frequency of work and a client's preference would probably be monthly invoicing. Plus, you may find invoicing every seven days a bit of a task, unless you really need the money of course, which the client may see as understandable if you're in set-up stage.
Keep records of each invoice, and associated receipts, that you submit, electronically and paper-based. Staple the receipts to the relevant invoice; helpful to have all your claims in one place if the taxman does come calling. Good luck đ
