There are rumblings of dissent in a number of threads, the fantastical low sums people are prepared to work for. :sick

I am of the opinion that those offering to work for practically nothing are students and those in full-time work and looking to build a portfolio. This does not help any of us who make a living doing this work.
To carry on in pedantic spelling mode - "dissent" đ -

I do my work for probably less than an well established company because I'm pretty much just starting out, but certainly not for ridiculous money. I'd rather flip burgers in Mcdonalds. But where do we stand, those of us who are just starting out?administrator, post: 4665 a Ă©crit : I am of the opinion that those offering to work for practically nothing are students and those in full-time work and looking to build a portfolio. Then when people come along they will get a rough idea of what XXX service that they want would cost. -

There are so many factors to consider when pricing jobs, never mind trying to sum up industry-wide prices that everyone would agree with. I think it would be very difficult.Ardesco, post: 4699 a Ă©crit : How about some sticky posts in each forum providing ball park figures for various services?

Messages count : 30Likes count : 0Registration : 6 February 2008I've just commented on this on another thread. It's a really tricky one. I'll be honest, I charge ÂŁ50 per hour, which works out at about ÂŁ350 (one 7-hour day) for a 1,000 word case study, or ÂŁ100 (a couple of hours) for a short 250 word article. My clients pay this happily, and I know that other specialist IT writers charge ÂŁ500+ for case studies! Which is why an 80,000 word website for $500 (as offered on one project-finding site) is just never going to be an option!----------------------------------------------------------------- The secret of happiness is to find something you enjoy doing and then to get someone to pay you for doing it!
