A global medical device company are looking for an Mechanical R&D Engineer to join their Engineering team on a contract basis. You'll be joining the project's product development stage for a highly regulated medical device working on design conception. Your role will be to looking at the designs, seeing what works and what doesn't, coming up with back up plans to anything that doesn't. Planning in the background for different results. There are parallel designs and you will be managing your own. This is an exciting time to be joining a fast growing project. Activities will also include generating data from tests of multiple parts, looking at the performances on the product and testing it, finding problems, providing the data, providing solutions, providing the project works. Essential skills: - Ability to understand fundamentals of mechanics - Being able to run design of experiments - Analysis and documenting results Highly desirable skills: - Medical devices experience advantageous or another regulated environment/industry The start date is for ASAP. The initial contract length is for 6 months (with extension options after). The role is based in County Tipperary and will require 4 days onsite per week, the rest of the time you can work remotely. Salary: Up to £45,000 depending on skills and experience What you'll be doing: Maturing the designs of the assigned Auxiliary systems and compartments of the Hunter Class Frigates in accordance with the requirements dictated by the program milestones Active engagement with the internal and external stakeholder community to synergize efforts and deliver best for program outcomes Development and maturation of marine engineering processes Leading decision-making within designated areas of responsibility Offering robust support to team members and collaborating closely with the Principal Engineer and the Engineering manager Serving as the primary engineering contact for the suppliers, ensuring seamless communication and strong relationships Your skills and experiences: Essential: Experience of Mechanical Engineering systems and knowledge of Mechanical systems design Understanding of Engineering Lifecycle management Desirable: Experience in the design, build, integration, support and operation of Naval or commercial ships or the offshore platforms Experience leading or mentoring a small team Engineers at all levels should possess an academic qualification in Engineering or other related STEM subjects as well as specific (either academic or professional) qualifications and become recognised as Incorporated or Chartered Engineers through an appropriate recognised professional institution.
