We're looking for an exceptional ServiceNow Platform Administrator to help us make a difference to our planet.

As our ServiceNow Platform Administrator, the job may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in the office and part of the week from home. This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and the location advertised will be your contractual place of work.

Your world of expertise

You will work within a highly skilled technical team in supporting our ServiceNow platform, which hosts a number of applications including ITSM, ITOM, CSM and SPM. ServiceNow is a strategic platform at the Met Office which we are looking to exploit it to its fullest extent, therefore we are looking for a driven and enthusiastic IT professional

Your key duties

  • Support continual service improvement of the ServiceNow platform, working with product managers, solution architects and delivery partners as necessary and delivering quality outputs to numerous internal stakeholders
  • Identify, investigate, and resolve issues with the platform, assisting team members as necessary. As a ServiceNow administrator, not only do you have the skills to manage the ServiceNow platform, but also have the aptitude to assess and resolve broad range of IT related issues which may be unique and complex in nature
  • Create, own, and maintain technical documentation and support information for colleagues and customers
  • Adhere to team development and support standards including, but not limited to, working in an ITIL support environment
  • Communicate effectively as necessary to a diverse audience ranging from highly technical to end user

This ServiceNow Platform Administrator role is aligned to Applications Operations Engineer Government Digital and Data Profession Capability Framework (ddat-capability-framework.service.gov.uk)

We operate an on-call roster in Technology to provide 24/7/365 support to respond to operational service requirements. This post may be part of an on-call roster and the postholder would be required to participate in an on-call roster where in operation.

As our ServiceNow Platform Administrator your total reward package will be up to £40,480 annually, which includes:

  • £26,954 base pay
  • An outstanding Civil Service pension, with an average employer contribution of 28.97%
  • Recruitment Retention Allowance (RRA) you will be paid £2,200 per annum as a market supplement to reflect the demand for your skills. Whilst in post, you will be paid this market driven allowance from April 2024 until September 2025 in your monthly pay
  • Annual Leave starting at 27.5 days (plus Bank Holidays) rising to 32.5 days (plus Bank Holidays) after 5 years and option to buy or sell up to 5 days per year of annual leave

Essential Criteria, skills and experience:

  1. We keep evolving - Experience of managing and supporting commercial off the shelf applications and SaaS products and a willingness to develop that knowledge to support software in an enterprise environment
  2. Experience of working in an IT operations environment with incident response, change and request management.
  3. We live and breathe it - Clear enthusiasm for working in IT and an ability to solve abstract IT problems, providing efficient and effective solutions in a timely manner.
  4. Evidence of an organised and structured approach to work.
  5. A proven ability to communicate easily, enthusiastically, and professionally with a range of customers.
  6. We're better together - Good team-working skills including an ability to coach and mentor junior colleagues, facilitate knowledge sharing and improve wider team capability.
