Sorry to hear about that @Jimmy - as @threelancer said, if you have a contract in place then you have some hope - even if it is just an email from them confirming that amount of work it could be possibly seen as a contract... Possibly!
Were you working direct or through an agency? Also, are they regular clients or were you seeing this as a one-off bit of work? That would alter how hard you would go after them IMO...

Sorry for the delay with approving the post. We have a partnership with:
Self Employed Mortgages : Mortgages for the Self-Employed :: Freelance UK
They are very good. How do I know? I used them this year as am in the same boat, Limited Company and high street lenders and standard indy mortgage brokers were next to useless. I applied through these guys and just needed signed contracts and they were then able to lend at 4X contract value. I did have to supply the usual bank statements (personal and ltd) plus the contracts and it was very painless from there. Beware some companies who want to charge an arrangement fee - these guys do it solely on their commission from the mortgage provider so was far cheaper.
Good luck!

We have plans to make it less likely that the less professional posters are unlikely to hang around. Some big changes in the pipeline...
I am of the opinion that those offering to work for practically nothing are students and those in full-time work and looking to build a portfolio. This does not help any of us who make a living doing this work.
To carry on in pedantic spelling mode - "dissent" 😃

No problem at all doing this I would have thought. Would it not be better though to simply issue the invoice in the currency that the customer will be paying you in?

Hello lovely contractors! Wondered when you would find us :D
Try and keep the caravan threads to a minimum - apart from that enjoy the stay.
Before you ask, CUK will be getting the forum upgrade soon too so I will be able to give you all warnings there too 😉
