Hi darren128

I was just wondering now if you have set fees in place or do you charge them as you go along according to content done, per page or per project?

You could always try increasing your rates if you think you are being underpaid as a freelancer you are entitled to set your own costs for any project done and then its up to the company to agree to the amount or not.

If you are offering quality work and services they should not have an issue paying for whatever you have done for them, maybe you are afraid to increase your prices in case they decided to use someone else to do the work.

I would suggest you try advertising yourself and obtain other clients to do work for, this way you can choose which clients you wish to work with and leave those that are not worth your while.

I have another link up on this forum entitled "Need some advice on how to find work etc?" in the "General Forum" section, its on all sorts from cv writing, career advice, contracting / freelancing and marketing now too, have a look and see if that helps.

My friend and I have recently been faced with the possibility of losing our jobs due to the recession, of course we are a bit worried and have decided to have a plan B / back-up plan just in case this becomes a reality, we are both pretty good at web design and decided to start up our own site doing this on the side just to see if it picks up and if we can actually make a viable full time business out of it.

My question is how does one advertise appropriately to get word out to people needing a web design service, I know there are things such as twitter and facebook etc but I'd like to get as much advice on this and make sure im doing all I can to get our site recognized and bring in potential customers.

All advice and comments are most welcome 😃
