hi guys
I'm after a bit of advice on this:
I have been working for a company for about 6 months now doing graphic and web design. I don't have a written contract with them, I am basically working for them as and when they want me, on a low wage producing work for large blue chip companies. The reason why I am working for the company is that I was made redundant and needed the money.
I am starting to get a bit fed up with producing the type and amount of work I am, for the amount of pay they are giving me. I also feel as if they are 'using me' as I am cheap labour for them, and have not got any written contract with them(although i don't really wont one!)
My question is:
If they decide to finish me next week or if I quit, will they have the rights to all the work I have produced for them over the last months?
Thanks

You retain artistic copyright of your designs, so unless you've signed a NDA you can use them in your portfolio.
Hope that helps.CGI Specialist -

I was just wondering now if you have set fees in place or do you charge them as you go along according to content done, per page or per project?
You could always try increasing your rates if you think you are being underpaid as a freelancer you are entitled to set your own costs for any project done and then its up to the company to agree to the amount or not.
If you are offering quality work and services they should not have an issue paying for whatever you have done for them, maybe you are afraid to increase your prices in case they decided to use someone else to do the work.
I would suggest you try advertising yourself and obtain other clients to do work for, this way you can choose which clients you wish to work with and leave those that are not worth your while.
I have another link up on this forum entitled "Need some advice on how to find work etc?" in the "General Forum" section, its on all sorts from cv writing, career advice, contracting / freelancing and marketing now too, have a look and see if that helps. -
