I don't want to start new Topic, because I have question regarding Late Payments too.

What should I do when my client paid DEPOSIT for the project in March. Today is 5th and will probably pay this month balance (which will be new tax year).
Should I take it as a 2015/2016 income or the balance payment for the project should be added to new tax year (2016/2017) ? A bit confused.... 🙁

What is your best invoice format that works for you.
Can I change how I set invoice numbering once we start new tax year (6th April)?
If for example I create invoice: #001, #002 and so on, can I start on 6th April (new tax year) again from #001, #002 ....? Since the year on invoice will be different ? or would be better to set up as #2015/001, #2015/002 etc. once we reach 2016 let's say from December: to set up again #2016/001 argh... i think it might cause confusion again 😉
That's why i need your help what is your way and how you keep everything organize and under control. 🙂

I have few questions regarding Contract you send over the email e.g when the client is living in another country.
1) Late payments: Is it legal to write on contract: 5% interest accrued (to be added every 7 days) if the payment is late more than 14 days. I read somewhere on internet, some freelance graphic designers add this to their contract not sure how it is in UK. Some clients, really delay payments even months and I think adding this anotation might speed up the process of getting paid.

2) Signature: Can I use my converted to vector signature and just copy/paste it on my contract and how client should sign the contract? Print it, scan it and send it back as .pdf ?

If you have any other answers that you think are important to include in this thread, please share it with me/us.
Thank you!
