Hello,
I am just trying to get started in the 3D field and could use a little advice! I have been given the opportunity to put in a bid on a modelling contract but am not sure how much to charge for such things. The contract involves producing & Texturing 3DS Max models of office buildings and equipment, no rendering or printing is required. As a rough guide how much do people charge per hour for this kind of thing?
Thanks in advance

Each job is different, there's not a standard rate for any one type of 3d gig, so your only benchmark for deciding on a 'bid level' is to extrapolate your likely costs.......here's a formula:
[(work/hrs required X hourly rate) + out-sourced costs] = your bid
If it's from a 'bid site' then be prepared to get squeezed..........there's a lot of people out there offering services for ridiculously little money.......but if you pay peanuts you always get monkeys. 😉
Personally I have a standard rate of £30/hr, whether the client's a big Corp or a guy in a shed, it's no matter........one rate for all and we all know where we stand.
Good luck dude. 🙂CGI Specialist -

That was useful, this job isn't through a bid site I am dealing directly with the client so hopefully have a good chance!
Fingers crossed :bye
Edit: Actually thinking about it, would you include software licences in your costs? -

Absolutely.........if you have to buy it specifically for that job, stick it on the quote. [It should then appear on the cost breakdown for client approval].Jimmer, post: 1576 a écrit : Actually thinking about it, would you include software licences in your costs?
