I am a 'Multimedia Designer and Animator' and am new to freelancing. The problem i have right now is that i don't know what i should charge for the work i do and should it be an hourly rate or a daily rate. Also, because i do a wide variety of work from graphics and web design to 3d and 2d animation, how do i work out the skill level that will reflect in how much i charge.

Clients always know what they're getting, budgeting jobs never involves a crystal ball and clients that regularly outsource really appreciate a complete transparency in your costs.
Charge one rate for everything you do..........the only variables are in any 'additional spend' you inccur specifically on any one project, outsourced images or 3d models for instance.
Good luck. 🙂
