Hi all, I'm new to this site and to freelancing and would like a bit of advice.
I am in the process of securing my first 'job' but they have asked for a fixed quote. I have no idea how to work this out! here's some details about me and the brief...
I'm doing the identity for a hair and beauty salon. they want signage, business cards, price lists and promotional flyers. I'm just doing the design, they have printers arranged.
I have < 2yrs experience and am nearly finished an HNC graphic design. I'm set up as a sole trader...and have a mortgage so need to pay the bills!
Does £250 sound ok for the package? I have no idea how long it will take so don't really want to say an hourly rate. maybe I should start timing...!
Thanks in advance

For example, if you think £250 is about what you'd expect for a week's work, consider whether you'll realistically be able to complete this project within a week's constant work.
Also, it depends on the expectations of the business you're designing for. In my opinion, a full branding can be done quite quickly, within a couple of days even. It's the perfectionism and client-requested amendments that can take the real time. Basically, if your client is very pedantic with a strong vision of precisely how they want the designs to look, then it can be far more time consuming than if the client is laid back and has faith in your vision.
