Any Advice welcome!!!

Hi, my names Anna Jones and I am curently a student in my final year of my degree.
I'm doing a Media and Communication degree specialising in Journalism and am currently working on my final year project.
For this I am acting as a Freelance Journalist and need to put together a portfolio of articles that I have completed.
I was wondering if anyone could possibly give me any advice on how to go about being a freelance journalist and what the job entails?
I would be extremely grateful and it would really help with my degree.
