Help! I did some work for a company who has now gone into administration. I'm out of pocket a couple of grand and not sure what to do. Has anyone else been in a similar situation?

This is one of the reasons why I'm a little tentative about working directly for companies and why I stick to institutions and other design agencies.
In the future you should certainly invoice at certain stages of the job (i.e. once the creative has been agreed etc). At least it will limit your losses. I know this may not help in this instance but it's a harsh lesson learnt.

Messages count : 15Likes count : 0Registration : 19 July 2008The thing to remember is that the administrator will consider his first duty to be to himself. If you want to join in for a slice of the cake, you need to be a pain in his neck.
Make sure you file a claim for the full amount and in that claim, state clearly that hardship will ensue if you are not paid. If a creditors meeting is called, attend the meeting. In the interim, insist on being kept informed. Should you genuinely feel the administrator is not being helpful, put that in writing and if the problem continues, you can apply to the court for intervention.
I'm sure there are decent people who act as administrators but keep in mind that many of them are not in that category. At the end of the day, the more forceful and ever present you are, the more likely you might see some money.
