Hi all,
I have a question regarding agency payment obligations. I've been working for a company through a small agency for a while now and there's absolutely no consistency in when I get paid.
I invoice weekly and the initial contract stated that the company would pay the agent after 4 weeks. Whilst this was a pain, it was something I could work with as it meant I would be continued to paid after I had left for 4 weeks or so.
The problem is that this has now gone out to 5 or 6 weeks and when I do get paid its sporadically. For instance I got paid 3 weeks ago for 3 weeks work but could only get paid 1 week next time. This is causing me to try and continuously chase and of course it always falls at the worst times.
I have always been paid and I'm not massively concerned about getting ripped off but I really do need to get some consistency in this.
Has anyone else ever faced a similar situation and if so, did you manage to resolve it?
Thanks in advance.

I think that companies can sometimes forget or be unaware of the impact of this sort of thing on a sole trader or micro business. They are often more sympathetic to freelancers than they are to other larger companies, especially if you've spoken to them and they understand why you're hassling over what, in comparison to other invoices in and out, may be a relatively small amount. Late payment is wrong but it's extremely common - you can at least try to get your invoices to the top of the pile.Opus Creative Design Ltd
