Responsibilities * Translate ideas, requirements, and engineering specifications into solid engineering solutions. * Provide accurate time and cost estimates and adhere to project plans. * Develop electronic sub-system solutions as part of an overall system that may include optics, mechanics, and software. * Develop test strategies and document findings for both electronic aspects and entire systems/products. * Support manufacturing and other departments during development and production phases. * Manage all aspects of the product lifecycle from conception to end-of-life, including manufacturing support. * Liaise with suppliers such as layout specialists and CMOs. * Perform additional tasks as identified by the Head of Hardware. Qualifications * Degree level or equivalent in Electronic Engineering. * Demonstrable practical design and construction experience. Skills and Experience * Competent in both analogue and digital electronics engineering. * Experience in photonics systems development is highly desirable but not essential. * Proficient in ECAD tools for schematic capture and PCB layout. * Skilled in circuit simulation and prototype building using through-hole or SMD technology. * Proficient in MS Office tools such as Word and Excel. * Ability to program microcontrollers and experience with assembler, C, or similar languages. * Knowledge of programmable logic is desirable but not essential. * Familiarity with ISO 9001 and the company QMS is desirable. * Ability to produce high-quality engineering documentation. * Experience in the defence/aerospace sector is desirable but not essential.
