Working on projects involving digital signal processing, high speed data processing and related radio communications systems, hands-on development will be the norm. You will take responsibility for the design and test of PCBs including FPGAs, SoCs and high-speed network interfaces, and you will be given the opportunity to stretch your skills in embedded C / C++. Experience of PCB fabrication and testing of related firmware and software would be beneficial, but not essential. As a successful candidate, you will have excellent qualifications, including a 1st in a numerate subject from a top university, with A/A*s at A-level (including Maths and Physics). Commercial experience or a PhD will be welcomed, and graduates finishing their course in 2025 will also be considered. Due to the nature of the work carried out by the firm, this role is only open to UK citizens able to obtain a high level of security clearance. Candidates with ILR or in need of visa sponsorship will not be considered. We are working with a globally established millimetre-wave product design company to find a Senior MMIC Engineer to join their UK-based design team at their head office in Newton Aycliffe. In this position as a Senior MMIC Engineer you will be working on the design, layout and RFOW of RFIC, MMICs and Microwave/mmWave modules. You will be working on GaAs & GaN based MMICs as standard MMIC products and custom design for applications from 1-150GHz. In this role you will be working in a close-knit team to solve challenging design problems for clients whilst being involved in all aspects of the design process from liaising with clients to detailed CAD activity and evaluating prototype parts. To be considered for the Senior MMIC Engineer vacancy you must have prior industry experience in GaAs MMIC design, be comfortable in the RF test, characterisation, and validation of MMIC's, complete understanding surrounding Smith charts and s-parameter measurements, and preferably some experience with load-pull characterisation.
