Job Vacancy Software Development Manager

Broster Buchanan are partnered with a global business within the food industry with a turnover of £8Bn+ who are looking for a Software Development Manager to join and manage the overall technology landscape and team of 22. Whilst this is primarily a team management role this would require someone with a strong software development background, with a background in developing a variety of end to end solutions (IE ERP, WMS, Finance systems etc) with very strong management experience of medium or larger IT teams.

The role offers flexible working with 2 days onsite in Birmingham per week and the rest remote, with a need to travel to Dublin, Spain and Portugal 1-2 times per month. On offer is a strong package with a basic salary of £80k - £95k + £5k car allowance + up to 20% annual bonus.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the entire software development process, from assessment, design to beta testing. They will be responsible for completing development efforts based on Change Requests, including ensuring requirements and dependencies are clear in the requests.Ensure appropriate capacity, skills and training plans are in place for the development team, as well as developing a customer focussed team culture.Responsible for the quality of the software, from code architecture to the end-user experience. They conduct code reviews to ensure that the development is completed in a consistent manner across the team, meets regulatory and compliance requirements and documentation is maintained.Works closely with the application support teams to ensure issues/bugs are triaged and timely fixes or workarounds are implemented. Work closely with the DevOps team to ensure quality and timely releases of new software and associated release notes. Drive innovation to ensure that the latest development methodologies are leveraged.Act as the subject matter expert on all things software development related, advising the IT Director and IT Management on Software Development initiatives.Manage the development of on in-house ERP system which the client are modernising, manage the backend written in Oracle, the middle layer in .NET API and the front end in Outsystems.

Requirements:

• Significant leadership experience of software development teams, ideally medium-large sizes, with any lowcode environment (ideally Outsystems) experience being highly beneficialA proven track record of delivering high quality software solutions through the full end to end lifecycle, and must have a good breadth of experience across a variety of technologies (ERP, WMS, finance, Lowcode systems etc)Extensive knowledge of software development methodologies, theories, practices, and toolsStrong interpersonal skills with the ability to build collaborative relationships across all organisational levels and departmentsAdept at balancing multiple priorities and requirements in a complex business environmentStrong communication skills, enabling alignment with both internal and external stakeholdersExperience in DevOps and particularly release management strategy is an advantage Experience with software solutions tailored for B2B environments, ranging from small businesses to enterprise customers, would be advantageous, so would any industry experience
