Are you an experienced and dynamic commodity buyer looking for a new challenge? Look no further! Our client, a leading Engineering & Manufacturing company, is seeking someone with expertise to manage their direct and indirect procurement activities. Based in the beautiful city of Ipswich, this Commodity Buyer role offers an exciting opportunity for the right candidate.

Responsibilities of Commodity Buyer :



Strategic Sourcing - As the commodity buyer, you will be responsible for developing sourcing strategies that support the overall objectives of the organization while driving down costs. Your expertise in strategic sourcing will be invaluable in achieving this.
New Product Development - Working closely with cross-functional teams to identify new product opportunities, you'll play a pivotal role in bringing these ideas from concept through production launch. Your ability to collaborate effectively with different departments will help ensure the success of new product development.
Commodity Management - Your experience working within commodities such as metals or electronics is key here where you'll have responsibility over supplier evaluation/selection/negotiation. Your expertise in commodity management will help ensure that the organization has reliable suppliers at the best possible prices.
Travel- The position requires frequent travel (approximately 25%) both domestically throughout Europe but also further abroad including China and India. Your willingness to travel will help facilitate the procurement process.
LEAN Methodology- Having knowledge around Lean methodology allows implementing process improvements into purchasing function. Your understanding of LEAN methodology will help to streamline the procurement process.


Qualifications/Skills Required Commodity Buyer role:



CIPS qualification preferred though not essential. As a commodity buyer, you should have a good understanding of procurement principles and practices.
Experience managing strategic sourcing projects gained ideally within manufacturing sector. Your previous experience in strategic sourcing will help you to develop effective sourcing strategies.
Excellent stakeholder management skills; able to communicate effectively at all levels internally & externally. Your ability to communicate effectively will be key in managing relationships with suppliers and stakeholders.
Proven track record delivering cost savings whilst maintaining high quality standards. Your ability to deliver cost savings while maintaining high quality standards will help to improve the bottom line.
