Did you have a contract in place?
Did you charge a deposit before you commenced the work?

Indesign is designed to be simple and effective to use.

Gets 100% from us. We have designed dozens of brochures with it. :glasses

Can help with that certainly.
You will be shocked with the price as the print process is a secondary procedure at a much slower pace than coming off the print press.

PM me if you want a comparative quote.

Well said!

It's ruining the trade and gives the impression that "anyone can design".

To get professionals you have to be professional.

Clients contract us to print for them too on top of the design and marketing that we do for them. In fact we contract so much work out, our printers have given us trade prices so that we can pass that cost saving on.

It would be your responsibility to make sure the print turns out well. You therefore need to know the difference between litho and digital print. CMYK or individual spot colours. Foil print, UV, embossing and debossing as additional enhancements.

No problem Jo.
It's a daunting time especially if you are just starting out. Happy to advice where needed as I was once in your position. Certainly a steep learning curve.

Do you have a web based portfolio?

Quoting for design

As a Freelancer, I'd charge according to your days/weekly rate either :

A week's design with 5 batch of amendments and then a small fee for each amendment thereafter.

or...

A week plus a few extra days design time and offer unlimited revisions.

We are a design agency with all the work prepared in-house. Due to the way we run the business, we are as competitive as a freelancer. Normal design agencies will charge a lot more.

Hope this helps. All the best with your pitch/project.

Kay

joco, post: 8066 a écrit : Hi all.

I've been asked to design 9x a4 page featuring a photo montage on one side and copy on the reverse.

Each image will be be based on their logo, so i will need to edit each image accordingly, add copy and design the layout.

The copy will be the same across 4 of the pages, but different across the remaining 5.

It'll take some time to do this project, i estimate a week...possibly more. They will also need several ammendments. The design will be very corporate.

I've come up with an estimate figure for the job based on a price per page for image and copy. The company i am doing this for will be getting a quote from an agency also.

I was wondering as a freelancer, what sort of price i should charge and what an agency would typically charge? I have an idea...but just wanted to get some advice on this subject!

Any help (ASAP!) would be super duper!

Thanks all,

Jo

Hi,

Thought I'd come and check out the recent revamp of FreelanceUK forum. It's been a while since I last posted. The forum looks great so well done to the team behind it.

We've been busy with restructuring Calibre Designs - brand development and marketing specialists. The web and product design side to the business will become sister companies. Still lots of work to do on the website though.

Will get back on form to offer members help where necessary!

Thanks

Kay

Hello guys...

Much better to keep work separate to play. When we are faced with deadlines, increasing stress levels and so forth, its nice to banter here.

Hello,

I am a product design and developer. I use CAD a lot so I would also like to know if we can start a CAD section or know if you have found CAD forum.

Thanks

Would it only be for graphic design? Else what other areas of design?
What would the costs be approx?

Thanks

Kay
