Advice needed regarding client payment method

Hi, Just a quick one, I am doing some paid work for my first client and they have asked to pay me via a ban transfer. I was just wondering if this is a safe way for me to be paid, as i don't want to give out any secure details and be screwed over! If this is not the best way, what other methods do people use? Happening more and more. Online transactions speed things up for one thing and more companies are doing this. I take it you trust this company to do work for them anyway. (Also, you give out your bank account number and sort code every time you write a cheque.) Otherwise there's paypal.
