Hi Everyone,
I've only just found this site and I can see it will be very useful!
Basically, having finished university, I managed to get a couple of freelancing jobs. I feel very lucky about this, but I am a little nervous about the future, as all freelancers probably are!
I don't quite know what it is that I do. This may sound like the most ridiculous thing you've ever heard, but it really is difficult to pin it down.
I do some fairly basic data analysis - and write macros for Excel workbooks. I create user manuals. I update information on a website. I write Press Releases. I handle social media. I do administrative work. I visit clients on behalf of a company to help train staff to use one of their products. I created a very basic (and rather rubbish) website, but that's all they wanted. I run competitions. I offer advice and help on a range of other matters.
So you can see I do a lot of varied work, but I'm not sure how to sell my services to other companies. So far I have two clients that supply me with plenty of work, but I understand it's not permanent and I need others too.
Where should I start? My worry is that although I do lots of things, I don't do enough of each to say I am expert at any. But I do know they value my advice and suggestions and often take them up.
Thanks
DC

Some under that banner will do similar to what you do, some will have different skills. I have a couple of clients that refer to themselves as VAs but they both do quite different things. Because of that many will network together and collaborate to refer work to each other to suit what they each do. Connect with others on Twitter and join some of the groups on LinkedIn. Perhaps attend some networking meetings such as 4Networking.Opus Creative Design Ltd
