Hello all, I'm a newbie here and am in need of some basic advice.
I've been employed by a company for the past 4 years that used to outsource all it's design work, until I bit the bullet one day and brought it all inhouse. Since then I've been producing all my employer's literature, flyers, leaflets, etc as well as all the gubbins that comes with it.
I'm completely self taught in AdobeCS programmes and am now competent and completely comfortable with what I do for them.
The short version of the story is, I'm being made redundant from said company at the end of the year and they've accepted my offer to continue to do the same work for them on a freelance basis.
I'm not a designer :eek:and although I was the one that offered, and am quite excited about the challenge, haven't a flippin clue where to start.
I'm hoping I can pick up some other business here and there but just where do I start when it comes to working out what my time's worth? What should I charge?
As I've been salaried for the past four years, I'm finding it difficult to now translate my time into money if you get what I mean.
Help? :confused::bye

Otherwise they'll just pay for hours as and when they want and leave you hanging at their convenience. I ended up in this situation and it was not good. -

Lupita, thanks for the links. I will definitely check those links. FSG, earning from freelancer is never very easy for me. That's may be cause I am very very new like you in freelance work. In office we can earn handsome salary with little work effort! but in freelancer I think there is no time for relax! -
