Recruitment agency fees
I have been freelancing a while. Am set up as a limited company for tax purposes. I was wondering whether anyone had any information on the average mark up taken by recruitment agencies on a freelancer's day rate. I am in a position to contract directly with my client now (whereas before I was contracted to the recruitment agency who were dealing with my client). I am trying to work out how much the agency have been charging my client and the mark up the former have been making on my daily labour.

I would just ask, though, have you checked your terms and conditions with the agency? A lot of them would involve a prohibition on working for their clients without using them as an intermediary, at least for a set period after you stop working for them, because nobody likes to have their clients poached, and it can get your professional name blackened.Freelance technical translator, French and German into English
