Job Description: IT Infrastructure Specialist (Contract Role)
Duration: Initial 2 months (strong chance of extension once additional funding agreed).
IR35 Status: Inside IR35.
Work Location: Remote, with potential travel to Manchester (reimbursed).
Start Date: 3rd or 4th week of January.
Overview:
A 2-month contract opportunity for an IT Infrastructure Specialist is available with our healthcare client. This role falls under inside IR35 regulations. Work will be predominantly remote, but candidates must be prepared to travel to the Manchester office if requested, with travel expenses reimbursed per the clients travel expenses policy.
Role and Responsibilities:
The IT Infrastructure Specialist will join the IT Infrastructure team within the Digital, Information, and Technology Directorate. Responsibilities include maintaining and enhancing IT systems, ensuring high availability of services, and strengthening cyber security. Key tasks include:
- Supporting and optimizing the existing infrastructure, including Office365, Windows Servers, Active Directory, VMware, Azure, and data storage.
- Collaborating with internal teams (e.g., Service Desk, WebOps) and third parties for infrastructure services.
- Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues, while documenting resolutions.
- Designing and reviewing system architectures, ensuring secure, efficient, and integrated solutions.
- Contributing to business continuity planning, disaster recovery management, and cyber threat mitigation.
- Participating in cross-department technical discussions and contributing to enterprise architecture solutions.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Microsoft Certified professional.
- Expertise with PowerShell and scripting.
- Strong proficiency in Windows Server and Microsoft Active Directory.
- In-depth knowledge of Microsoft platforms, particularly Intune, Exchange Online, Office 365, and Azure Active Directory.
- Experience in configuring and managing anti-malware, firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and vulnerability scanning tools.
- Significant hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure Infrastructure as a Service and hybrid infrastructures, including planning, optimization, and deployment.
- Proven experience in patching, monitoring, and change management processes.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience with SQL Server and Always On Availability Groups.
- VMWare vSphere expertise in large, complex environments.
- Microsoft Azure certification.
- Familiarity with configuring office telecommunications systems.
