On behalf of this organisation, AMS are looking for a Network Engineer for a 12 months contract based in London.

Purpose of the Role:

Responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance, availability and performance of UK Infrastructure and their global low latency etrading platforms.

Responsibilities of the role:

As a Network Engineer you will be responsible for:

  • Maintain operational stability of low latency eTrading platforms globally.
  • Working with the sales team to onboard new clients in a timely manner, designing bespoke solutions where necessary.
  • Managing all exchange and vendor connectivity to ensure any issues or new requests are efficiently resolved.
  • Converting internal/external requests to low level network designs and performing the necessary due diligence to avoid any issues before any changes are implemented.
  • Available to implement changes out of hours and support overnight issues when needed.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation to share with global support teams.
  • Ensure that changes and projects are being performed on time and safely.
  • Perform Capacity Planning for the technology under responsibility and inform Area Manager.
  • Build and maintain good working relationship with other technical teams.
  • Provide timely and accurate reporting to direct management line.
  • Ensure the production environment and BCP are maintained in a robust and serviceable state.
  • Minimise operational failure, including but not exclusively, the risk of fraud, by helping to devise, and by implementing frequent controls.

What we require from the candidate:

  • Very strong experience within financial markets.
  • Expert knowledge of BGP and Multicast.

Technical Skills:

  • Extensive multicast protocols, PIM, IGMP, MBGP.
  • Cisco hardware; Nexus 3K, Nexus 9K, 6500E, 4900, 4500, 6800 series switches.
  • ASR series and ISR series routers
  • Cisco software IOS, NX-OS, IOS-XE, IOS-XR
