Our client requires the services of a Data Analyst to collect, clean, and compile data on programmes, map and optimize the associated data management business processes, develop standard operating procedures (SOPs), and prepare training materials for staff on the updated processes and tools. The data Analyst must also facilitate the development of a digital data platform that will facilitate access and use of existing data from various sources.
1. Objective
The main objective of this assignment is to ensure that the peacebuilding programme data is accurate, consistent, and easily accessible for stakeholders via the Data Hub. It is also to outline a clear roadmap for the establishment of a digital platform/interface that will make data more easily useable for practitioners and decision-makers.
This will be achieved through:
- Designing and implementing robust data collection and cleaning processes.
- Mapping and optimizing business processes for data management.
- Developing SOPs to standardize data management practices.
- Preparing training materials for staff, ensuring smooth adoption of new processes.
- Preparing a roadmap and initial prototype for a user interface where the data can be accessed and used by practitioners and decision-makers
2. Scope of Work
The scope includes, but is not limited to:
Data Collection & Cleaning
- Identify sources of programme data (both internal and external).
- Design and implement processes for systematic data collection and cleaning.
- Integrate data from multiple sources into a unified dataset.
Business Process Mapping & Optimization
- Conduct stakeholder consultations to understand current workflows and pain points.
- Map existing business processes for data management within various client groups
- Identify gaps, inefficiencies, and propose optimization strategies.
Development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Draft clear SOPs covering data collection, cleaning, validation, storage, retrieval, and analysis.
- Ensure SOPs align with client data standards, confidentiality requirements, and best practices.
- Facilitate reviews of draft SOPs, gather feedback, and finalize documents.
Preparation of Training Materials & Capacity Building
- Develop user-friendly guides, training modules, and presentations on the updated processes and tools.
- Coordinate and conduct training sessions for relevant staff, ensuring knowledge transfer.
Development of a roadmap and prototype for the establishment of a peacebuilding data platform.

3. Duties and Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the team leader for the client and in coordination with the Information Management Unit the Data Analyst will perform the following duties:
Data Management
- Identify internal and external sources ofprogramme data
- Design systematic data collection and cleaning processes
- Coordinate the cleaning and validation and coding of data on client project and programmes - ensure accuracy, consistency, and reliability.
- Maintain data integrity, establish version control, and develop expertise in the relevant data standards for client activities
- Integrate data from multiple sources into a unified dataset
Process Analysis & Optimization
- Conduct interviews and workshops with key stakeholders to understand current processes.
- Map existing data management processes within the client, analyze workflows, and identify areas for streamlining.
- Develop recommendations for "to-be" processes and lead the implementation of improvements.
Development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs):
- Draft clear SOPs covering data collection, cleaning, validation, storage, retrieval, and analysis.
- Ensure SOPs align with client data standards, confidentiality requirements, and best practices.
- Facilitate reviews of draft SOPs, gather feedback, and finalize documents.

- Develop a roadmap for establishing a digital platform/interface to make client data more accessible and usable for practitioners and decision-makers.
- Build an initial prototype of the user interface for accessing and utilizing client data.
Qualifications:
Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in computer science, data science, analytics, statistics, or a related quantitative field. A first-level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
A minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experience in applied analytics, business intelligence, information management, statistics, or a related area is required.
Proven experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau or Power BI), and data collection, analysis, and Generative AI software is required.
Experience with programming languages (e.g., SQL, Python, R) and Microsoft Power Apps is an asset.
Experience working in learning environments is an asset.
Experience in conflict prevention, peacekeeping, integrating AI in peacebuilding, digital peacebuilding, media monitoring, community building, media literacy, and integrated analytics is highly desirable.
