If you don't have a contract, you should really get one - this is something that should have been negotiated and agreed in your contract before you started.
If you are paid on an hourly basis the number of hours worked in a week should be specified in your contract and if you work an extra hour over lunch then you should be able to adjust your hours that day or timesheet accordingly.
If lunch hours are not worked then they are unpaid - this is standard for both freelancers and most permanent employees.
If you are paid on a daily rate typically it will be for an 8 hour day excluding lunch - so if you decide to work through your lunch you won't get any extra money for it.
You definitely need to speak to your client to clarify and get a contract in place.
I've had my business account with Cater Allen for quite a while and never had any cause for complaint. Completely free, online banking and a deferred debit card - all you really need as a freelancer.
As you don't need a VAT invoice then a Paypal receipt should be fine. Considering it shows a description of the purchase and the seller's details then it will meet HMRCs requirements.
Yeah I'm not sure what they're going to do with Homeland Season 4... will have to wait and see. I have just finished the first season of Boardwalk Empire which was really good and cracking on with Season 2. The Walking Dead Season 5 back next month too!
Ahh, Rome. My partner bought the box set and has been bugging me to watch it since he managed to get me into GOT - maybe I should give in and watch this too!
House of Cards has to be your next!! Or True Detective! Just started the Hannibal series as well which so far so good, obviously if you don't mind a bit of cannibalism. Heard good things about Boardwalk Empire as well but haven't got round to that yet..
Thanks all. I did end up putting together a simple one page partnership contract from some free templates I found online just outlining the basics - responsibilities, finances etc. My partner on the project had no issue signing it and in fact said that they had been wondering whether they should do the same!
It's a one-off project which is expected to last 3 months. I met this freelancer on another project and worked alongside them for nearly 6 months - seemed to be genuine and reliable so perhaps a DIY one will be fine in this instance? Thanks 🙂
I am planning to work with another freelancer on a specific project, and I am wondering whether I should draw up a partnership contract? Does anyone else have any experience with this?
Is there anywhere I can find a partnership contract template to tailor or somewhere I can get a contract drawn up from without having to spend a small fortune?
Thanks!
