Ha Glebe is talking to himself a lot on here. Hows it going? Are you still ok up north?

Do I still have to pay the same amount of tax on work that i've picked up from overseas? Wondering if there may be some clause whereby I can pay less tax (hope!).

I was working as an Engineer (i gave up freelance design for a change) then had to have a major operation... i'm now paid SSP.
Am i also allowed to do freelance design work as £70 (SSP pay) a week isn't enough to pay the bills (i have no trouble in sitting at a PC/doing this kind of work)?
Any help much appreciated.

Yeah, got it. Thanks for the in depth reply. I find that actually going into the company and politely asking/waiting for the payment tends to work - i don't really like going down the legal route... not at this stage of business anyway.

Yeah but some have taken 2 months to pay. Surely you have to draw the line and start hassling them at some point. Cheers for the link.

Is it possible to set in the terms and conditions of the quote/invoice that payment must be made within 10 days, or there an industry standard for payment being made within 30 days that shouldn't really be changed?
I'm basically fed up with waiting weeks for payment.
... Also could someone give me the link to the post/info on site that explains the terms of interest on late payments for freelancers?

Yeah with Undisclosed Recipients they wont see that it's your email but those other companies will still be entered into the BCC, so wont their email program just put it in the junk mail... or does sending it to yourself as well cause it to do something weird with the BCC and make their email appear as if its in the 'to' field?

How is emailing it to yourself and blind carbon copying it to everyone else any different to emailing it to one company and then blind carbon copying it to all other companies?
Posted reply 1 March 2007 14:42
Uh.. that's quite interesting - are you saying that most email accounts are set up to filter BCC emails into the junk box? I guess so.elastic, post: 565 a écrit : Don’t send out one bulk mail with all the addresses in the To: field, and definitely don’t hide the address in the BCC field.

I have to say as well, going to your local tax ofice can save you a lot of time and worry. I strolled in there the other day in a mess and they sorted it out quickly.. no need for appointments etc. They virtually printed out all the figures and ticked the relevant boxes to tell me where to enter the figures etc. The form ended up taking about 5 minutes to complete.

I have settled for my bedroom as it costs less. I've found some nice office space for meetings for £10 per hour - 100 metres from my flat. I can register my company at that building too which is all good.

Hellooooooo.
Does anyone know of any sites/ways of finding out about shared office space for designers (apart from Gumtree). I had a look at some office space here in Bournemouth but it's all a bit cheesy. I reckon I could get a better price and a cooler looking office by renting from another established design company. Maybe I should just contact some and ask the question. I've been to meet quite a few companies in London that share office space...
Regards.
