Please help!
A Company I work for may lose their contract this week and I will lose out on 6 weeks work (about 25 shifts). I am booked untill early August.
I have been a freelancing at the same company getting about 10-15 days a month. The days are usually assigned about 4-5 weeks in advance.
If all my shifts are cancelled can I still invoice for them? I have heard I am entitled to them if I have it in writing that I am booked.
Does anyone know what my rights are?

What does it say in your contract?

However, just consider whether or not you are likely to get further work from the company you would be invoicing for working on jobs for some of their other clients. If you invoice them for this lost work, is it possible that they'd go elsewhere and you'd miss out on other future work? It's possible that you may be legally entitled to invoice these lost days but if you do you might lose out in the long run. Check your contract (so that you know what you're strictly entitled to do) and then speak to them – tell them that the situation means you've lost out on the work you've been booked for, but ask if they might be able to give you any other work to replace/make up for it. If you're reasonable and sympathetic to their situation there's a good chance that they'll be the same to you. It's always better to discuss a situation like this face to face (hopefully reaching a mutually acceptable conclusion) that by starting a battle of legalities, emails and invoices, which just backs everyone into their corners.
(Not sure if this whole scenario would apply to your industry though)
