Hi
I have been working freelance (self employed) since September so I am in my 6th month.
Things have been good and have had a consistent flow of work. But All of this work has been from one company. I am working at their office on the usual 9 till 5 day, 5 days a week. At the moment I see no end to the work.
My questions are.
1 - What are the laws about working for one person. I know this is an issue.
2 - Is this more of an issue for me or for my employer?
Any help will be great.
Thank you in advance
Paul

If you click on "Tax & Legal" in the column which is to my right as I write (although on some pages it seems to be on the left!) you'll come to all sorts of links about it which may help. I think that the gist of the legislation is that if you're a freelance working full-time solely for one employer, then HMRC tend to look at it as a tax dodge by your employer to avoid treating you as an employee, paying NI contributions and so on.
Presumably someone else here will come up with some appropriate links for this - I haven't quite got the hang of where all the useful repeat information is on this forum yet.Freelance technical translator, French and German into English
