NEW - Getting items published
Hi
I am moving in to freelance photography and basically have 4 jobs (festivals) lined up for this summer and I am wondering if anyone can advise me on who to go to get photos published. Is there anyone out there that writes for the music that could possibly assist me please?
Should I go direct to the magazines? An agent?
HELP
Thanks to anyone that helps

- Yes - approach every magazine, website, editor you can find and do your pitch - you must do the leg work I'm afraid - there is no easy way of doing this, or if there is I certainly haven't found it!!

Steve - Yeah, direct to magazines, cut out the middleman. Hard slog to start with but well worth it. Either that or take the easy route and get a boring permie job 😉
- Whatabout setting up a website with galleries on it, then only use low resolution images that are clearly watermarked copyright.
Send out letters and bizzy cards and an email to all newspapers and magazinnes before the events with, then as soon as the event is photographed get the images on (sameday if possible) and again email the magazines and newspaper companies with a link to your site.
Have a reference for each image and make it easy for them to request copies of images - email and telephone numbers on every image. - Do you need a website? That is the easiest way to direct people to your work - a web address on a business card.
Or, how about a business card that is also a CD with a slideshow of your work on it? How impressive would that be, and most people will be inclined to keep it than throw it away like a regular card.
I can help you with both, should you need any assistance - good luck!
