Hi,
i have just designed some business cards for a company, and the printers have asked me to re-send the card to them, saying that the file needs to be at least 1000 dpi, but I do not know how to change the dpi, can anyone help?? I created the work on Indesign and then exported it to PDF/JPEG to send to printers. I would appreciate some help on this matter.
Thanks
Becky

I find that resolution a bit high myself, 300 dpi has always been sufficient for litho printing for me. As it has been exported to a jpeg from InDesign, if you have photoshop you can open it in that, then go to Image - Image size and change the resolution in the resolution box, you might need to fiddle with the check boxes to keep the dimensions the same. Mine are all checked and the image dimensions do not change.
.pdf Export, dialogue box click on compression, (not 100% sure if this is correct this is what I would change), you have colour images, greyscale and monochrome, depending on any images, I would change the pixel per inch here.
Hope this helps -

If your printer is 100% certain that they require files supplied at 1000dpi then ask them to supply you with the relevant Distiller settings. Failing that, go to a printer who knows what they are doing! -

Ask to speak to the Production Manager (or higher) and query this.
