Software Engineer

Software Engineer Glasgow £35,000 to £45,000 + Bonus Excellent opportunity for a hands-on Junior Software Engineer to join a growing development team building smart control systems and real-world automation software. This company is designing some genuinely interesting software - systems that connect with physical kit, streamline operations, and solve engineering problems that aren't just happening on a screen. They've got a solid product base, strong technical leadership, and a pipeline of projects that'll keep you challenged. Through growth they are looking to add a Junior Software Engineer to their busy team. In this role, you'll be writing clean, efficient code using modern .NET (ideally .NET 8), working across backend services, job scheduling logic, and UI components. You'll contribute to design decisions, build features from the ground up, and get involved in everything from database integration to refining system performance. The ideal candidate will be a Software engineer that has solid experience with C# and .NET, a strong understanding of object-oriented design, and a track record of building applications that are reliable and scalable. Experience with REST APIs, Entity Framework, or integrating with physical or industrial systems would be a big plus. This is a fantastic opportunity to build software that actually gets used in the real world - with plenty of variety, technical ownership, and room to shape what you're building. The role: *Develop features and services for a modern control software platform *Write and maintain clean, efficient code in C# using .NET (ideally .NET 8) *Build backend logic, job schedulers, and interactive UI components *Design and query structured and flexible databases *Contribute to system performance improvements and feature architecture The person: *Commercial experience using C# and .NET in Software Engineering or Software Development roles *Strong understanding of object-oriented programming and software design *Experience building backend services and/or full-stack applications *Comfortable working with both relational (e.g. SQL Server) and non-relational databases *Experience with REST APIs, Blazor, Entity Framework, or Azure is a bonus
