Your future duties and responsibilities We are seeking an experienced C# Software Engineer to join our Development Team, supporting and enhancing a Primary Care System, deployed globally. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a major technical refresh of a deployed system that has been operational since 2011. The role involves working on both existing and new platform builds, ensuring the highest standards of system stability, security, and performance. As part of the Deployed Service Team, you will: • Support the upgrade of the current system to a modern platform based on Windows Server 2016 and Microsoft SQL Server 2017. • Work with tailored COTS medical software, underpinned by large-scale SQL Server databases. • Enhance and maintain a range of generic COTS products (e.g., Microsoft Office, Adobe Reader) and generic hardware (e.g., printers, scanners) integrated with the medical software. Key Responsibilities • Enhance and uplift existing deployed software using DevOps practices. • Develop new deployed software components, ensuring they meet quality and performance standards. • Place all developed software under robust configuration control. • Produce and execute unit tests, and collaborate with testers to develop and improve system tests. • Assist with process improvements to optimize software delivery and system stability. • Provide support for out-of-hours outage resolution as required (by agreement). Required qualifications to be successful in this role • Proven ability to quickly understand and work with complex, mission-critical, and safety-critical systems. • Strong expertise in Microsoft C# development using Visual Studio 2019. • Experience with Windows Server 2016 and Microsoft SQL Server 2017. • Familiarity with Microsoft Office 2016 in a system integration context. • Hands-on experience with SVN or similar configuration control systems. Desirable Skills and Experience • Knowledge of security hardening for operating systems and applications. • Experience with Active Directory (AD) and Group Policy Objects (GPO) configuration. • Familiarity with tools such as Nessus for security assessments. • Understanding of Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS) and their interaction with operating systems. • Experience in developing and deploying operating system images (ISOs) to physical machines. • Proficiency with Bugzilla or similar bug-tracking tools. Work Environment and Flexibility • You must be within traveling distance of one of our designated offices in Leatherhead, Reading, or Bridgend, as some activities require accessing air-gapped systems. • Hybrid working model with a mix of office-based and remote work. • Occasional out-of-hours support required for system outages (by agreement). Power Platform Developer Location: RG7 4PR , located between Reading and Basingstoke, with free onsite parking . Package: £38,350 - £50,000 (depending on your suitability, qualifications, and level of experience) Working pattern: AWE operates a 9-day working fortnight. Let us introduce the role AWE is currently recruiting for a Power Platform Developer for the Enterprise Applications group. The Role: Developer on key projects, ensuring the team delivers to meet requirements. Design and build software and software modifications to meet business requirements using agreed standards and tools to achieve a well-engineered result. Adherence to appropriate delivery methodologies such as Waterfall, Scrum and Agile. Provide technical support for supported applications, integrations and services. Ensure configuration and change is managed and controlled throughout software development lifecycle. Produce required documentation to support all phases of the system development process. Carry out code reviews across all development deliveries to ensure high quality first time. Provide timely updates to task managers on the status of assigned deliverables. Retain knowledge of latest programming and design techniques. Who are we looking for? We do need you to have the following: Strong experience of application development using Power Platform Model Driven Apps and C# scripting. PL-400 Microsoft Certified Power Platform associate would be a distinct advantage. Experience of Dynamics 365 CRM Plugin Development using C#. Recent Experience in Azure DevOps or similar (Jira, GitHub). Experience of Agile methodology and flexible in approach. Experience with an Integration environment/role, using Azure LogicApps, Azure Function Apps and SSIS/SSMS would be desirable. Experience of unit testing and test automation You'll need to have the ability to work calmly and constructively in a priority changing environment and be able to manage your own workload.
