Your future duties and responsibilities We are seeking an experienced C# Software Engineer to join our Development Team, supporting and enhancing a Primary Care System, deployed globally. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a major technical refresh of a deployed system that has been operational since 2011. Key Responsibilities • Enhance and uplift existing deployed software using DevOps practices. • Develop new deployed software components, ensuring they meet quality and performance standards. • Place all developed software under robust configuration control. • Produce and execute unit tests, and collaborate with testers to develop and improve system tests. • Assist with process improvements to optimize software delivery and system stability. • Provide support for out-of-hours outage resolution as required (by agreement). Required qualifications to be successful in this role • Proven ability to quickly understand and work with complex, mission-critical, and safety-critical systems. • Strong expertise in Microsoft C# development using Visual Studio 2019. • Experience with Windows Server 2016 and Microsoft SQL Server 2017. • Familiarity with Microsoft Office 2016 in a system integration context. • Hands-on experience with SVN or similar configuration control systems. Place all work under version control (using Git). • Progress Reporting: Provide regular, ideally programmatic, updates on the status of your work, maintaining transparency and visibility within the team. Required qualifications to be successful in this role • Automation Tool Experience: Prior experience with any test automation tools is preferred; knowledge of Eggplant is a plus but not mandatory, as training will be provided. • Technical Skills: Knowledge of PowerShell scripting is beneficial. Candidates with experience in automating tests for compiled applications (rather than web-based applications) will find this experience advantageous. • Detail-Oriented & Process-Driven: Ability to follow and contribute to the Test Automation Reference Architecture (TARA) and related standards. • Collaborative Mindset: Comfortable working within a team structure, with the flexibility to attend in-person meetings and access secure systems as needed. You must be hands-on and have at least 7 to 10 years proven track record. The following are a list of functions for this position: • Monitoring and management of the relationship with the managed service provider, including performance against SLAs, charges for non-standard items, complaints, changes to service • System changes (software upgrades, introduction of new systems • Non-standard requests (new software requests, different/more powerful laptops, etc) • Acquisitions of businesses - guidance on how to absorb people and systems • Security system monitoring - interpreting and managing output from the SOC (security operations centre) • Software licensing (Microsoft, Mimecast, other systems (time recording, billing, marketing, etc) • Change management (internal authorisation for significant system changes) • Assistance to senior management in relation to IT issues (for example, integration with a new time/billing system) • Response to technological change (e.g. major updates to Microsoft software, introduction of AI-based systems) • Accreditation for security certificates (Cyber Essentials Plus, possibly ISO 27001) • Assistance with AAF and other audits • Management of joiner/leaver process • Business continuity plan & disaster recovery This is a hybrid position with 2 to 3 days in the office at the offices in Reading.
