Senior Security Architect

Pay up to £70,000, plus 28.97% employer pension contributions, hybrid working, flexible hours, and great work life balance.

DWP. Digital with Purpose.

We are looking for Senior Security Architects to join our community of tech experts in DWP Digital.

We are currently expanding our security architect capability across a number of delivery teams, to help embed a secure-by-design and secure-by-default culture.

As a Senior Security Architect you will blend technical security knowledge, architecture design, and development skills.

We're using fresh ideas and leading-edge tech to build and maintain digital solutions that will be used by nearly every person in the UK, every day and at key moments in their lives.

DWP is the UK's largest government department. We help people into work and make payments worth over £195bn a year to support and empower millions of people.

The scale of what we do is extraordinary, we have unique and complex architectural problems to solve, and our purpose is unique. We'd love you to join us.

What skills, knowledge and experience will you need?

  • Leading architecture design of data-oriented business critical IT projects/services in a large, complex UK central government or private sector organisation.
  • Analytics & Reporting: Data warehousing, Data Lakes, business intelligence (BI) and analytics technologies, design patterns, tools and best practice.
  • Presenting technical content to large technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Public cloud technologies, cloud hosting, container, and networking design patterns, tools and best practice (e.g. Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform).
  • Database Design & Management.
  • Data Architecture Design: Data Modelling, Master Data Management (MDM), Metadata Management, Data Governance.

You and your role

We have two roles based in our Digital Health and Disability team.

Health and Disability delivery teams manage a large portfolio of IT services, including the Functional Assessment Service (FAS), which provide support to some of DWP's most vulnerable customers. We are currently delivering a large digital transformation providing modern, secure, cloud-based services to our customers.

The other role is based in Digital's Data Insight and Analytics function.

This team is responsible for the development of reusable technical capability in the form of advanced analytics and MI platforms.

This capability underpins the development and deployment of analytics driven controls such as those supporting payment accuracy, and ambitions to reduce fraud, error and debt, as well as the strategic capability for MI reporting and visualisations across DWP.
