Salary: Circa £67,000 depending on skills and experience What you'll be doing: Providing technical leadership by taking ownership of complex automation solutions, engaging with stakeholders and end users Reviewing and debugging of complex automation scripts Providing specialist knowledge and subject matter expertise to members of other teams Provision of support and oversight for the work of other team members Designing solutions for deploying and configuring software and systems Developing and maintaining software relating to automation of system build and deployment Performing investigations and identify appropriate solutions to emerging issues Answering technical queries about his/her own work and supply technical support and expertise to others as required Your skills and experiences: Essential: Experience of working with large complex systems, ideally in the naval sector Background in software engineering PowerShell or C# VM Ware and virtualisation techniques Desirable: Techniques for automation of installation and deployment software Experience of strong configuration management practices Applicants should ideally be Degree qualified or have equivalent experience, likely to be in a technology, engineering, science or IT related discipline. Principal Software Engineer- SMCS

Salary: Circa £65,000 (dependent on skills and experience) What you'll be doing: Providing technical expertise across the software team for the requirements, design, implementation, testing and verification of the SMCS Software system Guiding and mentoring other Software Engineers in their efforts throughout the lifecycle Collaborating with the management team to report progress, plan, and estimate work Work with product engineering teams to deliver through-lifecycle aspects of the development and requirements Meeting the SMCS customers and end users, as required, to enable development of the SMCS Programme(s) and the continued evolution of the SMCS product as required Your skills and experiences: Essential: Experience supporting multiple complex programmes Significant understanding of all aspects of a software lifecycle and good knowledge of software lifecycle models (e.g. waterfall, Agile, Spiral) Proven experience of using a high-level design methodology (e.g. UML) Desirable: Experience using requirements tools (e.g. DOORS) Considerable experience of using at least one high level programming language (e.g. ADA, C++, C#) Experience with estimating for project bids Engineers at all levels should possess an academic qualification in Engineering or other related STEM subjects as well as specific (either academic or professional) qualifications and become recognised as Incorporated or Chartered Engineers through an appropriate recognised professional institution.
