The Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT) directorate develops and operates tools and services to support us in this mission. Job description About the role As a Senior Interaction Designer at DBT, you will be at the forefront of developing cutting-edge digital products that are integral to our services. You will work in a multidisciplinary team alongside user researchers, content designers, product managers, and technology experts. Together, you will craft innovative solutions that enhance our digital presence and improve user engagement. To be effective in this position, you will need to understand the needs of users and stakeholders and be able to communicate this in an engaging way, whether this is by creating prototypes to test an idea and inspire the team and stakeholders, or creating design patterns that can be used across our services to ensure consistency and scalability. Person specification Main responsibilities You will: Provide design leadership across multidisciplinary teams, focusing on innovative and user-centred design solutions. Partner with the Head of Design, Head of User Research, and Head of Content to deliver cohesive user experiences. Work closely with other Heads of Profession to ensure seamless interaction with government services. Set direction and embed best practices within teams, alongside the Lead Interaction Designer. Facilitate key decisions based on research insights and understand their broader impact. Create and iterate on design patterns and prototypes that meet user needs and enhance service consistency. Work with user researchers and front-end developers to transform concepts into digital products and services. Embrace and provide constructive criticism to continuously improve design work. Contribute to the wider community of designers within the department and across the government and support and mentor less experienced colleagues, fostering a culture of growth and development.? Skills and experience It is essential that you have: Extensive experience in designing systems for use across multiple services, ensuring they meet the specific needs of various contexts and services (LEAD) Proven ability to meet the needs of users across a variety of channels, ensuring a seamless and engaging user experience. Skilled in using a variety of prototyping methods to test and communicate ideas, share best practices, and the ability to coach others in strategic service design from end to end. Experience in identifying, communicating, and working within constraints, while challenging their validity and ensuring standards are met. Capable of applying a digital understanding to work, identifying and implementing solutions for assisted digital services. Experience in sharing best practices, coaching others, and contributing to strategic service design initiatives. It is desirable that you have: Experience of agile tools, how to use them and can adapt and reflect to see outside of the process??
