Frontend JavaScript Engineer Position Description The Space, Defence and Intelligence business unit in CGI is a true IT Systems Integrator. CGI are on the hunt for a Frontend JavaScript Engineer to join an exciting new programme of work (BOREALIS) on a full-time permanent basis. Due to the secure nature of the programme, you will need to hold UK Security Clearance or be eligible to go through this clearance. This position will be a hybrid position, working out of our site in Leatherhead. Your future duties and responsibilities Are you a self-motivated front-end engineer with a passion for transforming complex scientific and engineering data into engaging, user-friendly interfaces? CGI's Secure Space Systems business is expanding rapidly, and we're looking for an experienced JavaScript developer to join our innovative team. You'll be working on projects that range from early-stage prototyping to full-scale agile developments-solving challenging problems in Space Situational Awareness, Space Domain Awareness, and Command & Control. What You'll Do: • Develop Engaging Interfaces: Create efficient, high-quality user experiences using JavaScript, TypeScript, CSS, and HTML5. • Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with cross-functional teams in dynamic, agile environments (Scrum, SAFe, and DevSecOps) to rapidly adapt to evolving requirements. • Present Complex Data: Transform intricate scientific and engineering data into intuitive, visually appealing interfaces that empower users. • Innovate in a Fast-Paced Environment: Engage with diverse projects, learn new technologies, and contribute to cutting-edge solutions in the space sector. Required qualifications to be successful in this role • Technical Expertise: Strong experience in JavaScript, TypeScript, CSS, and HTML5. • Teamwork & Communication: Excellent collaboration and communication skills to thrive in a dynamic, agile setting where priorities can shift quickly. • Adaptability: A pragmatic, delivery-focused mindset with a love for learning and adapting to new challenges. Highly Desirable Skills: • Angular & Bootstrap: Experience with Angular 12+ and Bootstrap, as well as a strong grasp of the modern JavaScript development tool chain. • Back-End Exposure: Experience in Java is highly desirable. Additional Assets: • UX Design Systems: Familiarity with the Astro Space UX Design System. • Agile Development: Previous exposure to Agile methodologies or similar technologies (training provided if necessary). • Advanced Technologies: Knowledge of big data technologies (HBase, Hadoop), machine learning frameworks (Spark), or orbit dynamics is of interest. Job Description Senior Front End D3 Javascript Software Engineer - Holborn Our Client wants to recruit a Senior Front End Software Developer with at least 7 to 10 years expertise of working with D3 React and Javascript. You will be involved with creating sophisticated, robust and easy to use web apps whilst working in a close-knit team who solve complex problems, together. The Client works with very latest cutting edge Front End Technologies. You will be working to create data-heavy applications for the Company's principle client, a major management consultancy undergoing a large-scale digital transformation. Responsibilities • Delivering pixel-perfect, high-quality code in a timely manner. • Creating easy to use, easy to understand applications • Participate in technical discussions with technical leads and within your team. Key Skills Required: • Exceptional track record in delivering quality front end engineering solutions. • A thorough understanding of RXX XX XX XX XX and its core principles and workflows (such as Flux or Redux) • Data visualisation experience, including with D3.js • Experience with continuous integration, test automation, and monitoring You must have the following skills: • Strong proficiency in JavaScript, CSS, HTML including DOM manipulation and the JavaScript object model • Familiarity with RESTful APIs • Knowledge of modern authorization mechanisms, such as JSON Web Token • Familiarity with modern front-end build pipelines and tools • Experience with common front-end development tools such as Babel, Webpack, NPM, etc. • Familiarity with code versioning tools The Client is based in Holborn London.
